spring catch-up montage part 4:
Hot Chip at the TLA on April 25th!
Hot Chip’s last show in Philly at the Troc a couple years ago is still one of my favorite shows EVER. That show was on the “Made in the Dark” tour and the setlist was basically perfect, the Troc was full but not packed, the crowd was cool, etc. This TLA show did not quite live up to all of that but a decent Hot Chip show is still better than a LOT of other options.
I think my only real disappointment with this one was simply the length. It felt rrrrreally short…maybe an hour and 15 minutes tops. And, with a big chunk of that being taken up by new material from “One Life Stand”, I found myself wishing that they were playing more stuff from “The Warning” and “Made in the Dark”. Before I knew it, it was over. No “Shake a Fist”…no “Just Like We (Breakdown)”…and obviously no “Playboy”. But, they did play really well and they all seemed to be in great moods. ”One Life Stand” and “We Have Love” were the best stuff from the new album in my opinion. I ended up with “We Have Love” stuck in my head for days. Hot Chip rules.
